Where did the summer go?
Where does one even start when one has been a blog-slacker for so long? I won't insert lots of lame excuses here - we have simply been ridiculously remiss. So, where did we leave off? Oh yes, summertime. After a busy, unbearably hot strawberry season, we headed to Kaslo again with Jessica, Marc and Miles to stay in the yurts at Blue Ridge Retreat. It was a much-needed break for everyone, and despite a lot of rain, which was actually welcome after desert-like Alberta, we had a great time just hanging out with our friends, playing together, reading, napping, eating and napping some more.
We made a little side trip to Kelowna from Kaslo to see the Fays. On a map, the two destinations look pretty close, but it's actually a fair hike - okay, we drove - from one to the other. Those mountains really get in the way. But thanks to a lot of books, toys, food and air conditioning, Mia handled the trip like a champ. And we had a fun, albeit short, visit with Barb and Edan and their kids, who are always so hospitable and welcoming. Thanks guys!

Jason and Ashley went to the Lethbridge Airshow with us in August. Mia met the Snowbirds but didn't appreciate them quite as much as her dad did.She loved going on the swings with Grandma BonBon at Little Bow Provincial Park.
In September, Frankie and Lisa came to visit from Singapore. We checked out some outstandingly rural southern Alberta highlights, like a local Hutterite colony and the Lethbridge Corn Maze. For the record, it's not easy to make your way through the maze, especially when you're with two men who won't ask for directions. Typical!
We also took a drive to Windy Waterton. Mia loved the "goats" (read: deer).
Our little girl also had her very first haircut this fall. No curls yet!
