A year...

It's been a year...

A year since we first felt the fear of losing someone we didn't even yet know.

A year since we first felt the joy of meeting someone we already loved with all of our hearts.

A year since all we could do was "hand swaddle" you in the incubator, your daddy's single hand covering your entire body.

A year since we first knew what it was like to hold a baby so tiny and light.

A year since we became so well acquainted with the NICU and its inner workings.

A year since we saw our little baby being wheeled into an operating room for heart surgery.

A year since we first realized our baby is a little fighter.

A year since we felt such happiness over the smallest of successes.

A year of many milestones and lessons, heartaches and joys.

A year since you left an impenetrable mark on our lives and in our hearts.
